David Hooser is the President and CEO of Franklin Learning Centers, LLC and of FLC Enterprises. He is also Manager of ESPL Holdings, LLC. David is a 13-year electronics executive turned 17+ year entrepreneur. His career in the semiconductor business included sales and management positions at notable companies like Advanced Micro Devices, National Semiconductor and Motorola Semiconductor. He founded Franklin Virtual Schools and is positioning Franklin Learning Centers to become the most recognized American education solutions provider globally.
Michael Choate handles Technology Management as Chief Information Officer of FLC Enterprises. Mr. Choate has more than thirty years of technical, management and executive experience in information technology and telecommunications related businesses. Most of Michael’s experience and management training occurred during his more than 20 year career with Viad Corp (Greyhound-Dial) companies, beginning as a software developer for Greyhound Computer Corporation and progressing to the Executive Director level in the corporation.
Shannon Hakkal has been an educator for over 15 years. She has worked with students of all ages and grade levels in both public and private school settings. In addition to her classroom experience, Shannon has supported students in online and blended learning environments for the past decade. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The College of William and Mary in Virginia and a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University as well as Arizona Teacher Certification. Shannon plays a vital role in managing all aspects of FLC’s innovative academic programs.
Janeen Scaringelli has been in education for the past 19 years at the elementary and secondary levels. She has been an elementary and middle school teacher and a guidance counselor at the high school level. Janeen holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English as a Second Language (Northern Arizona University), a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction (Northern Arizona University) and a Master’s Degree in Counseling (Ottawa University). Janeen has been with Franklin Learning Centers since the inception where she is the Chief Academic Officer. Janeen’s passion has always been about helping students succeed and preparing them for their future.
Michelle Schilling currently holds a Master of Arts in Educational/Administration and Supervision, with an Emphasis in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education from the University of Arizona. She has ten years of experience in education working in a variety of public school settings with diverse student populations from preschool through high school. Michelle has served in education through a number of roles including a science classroom teacher, online education, Career and Technical Education (CTE), principal intern, Agriscience Integration Coach, and an educational consultant through a federally funded 21st Century Grant. She has been an active member in the Arizona Department of Career and Technical Education (ACTE), Arizona Agriculture Teacher Association (AATA), and the National Association of Agricultural Education Teachers (NAAET). Michelle holds distinguished educational honors including Teacher of the Year from Yavapai Educational Foundation, West Side Impact Grant recipient, and has presented at national education conferences.
Jared Richardson has a wide variety of experiences in science, education, and international business. He is a US Air Force veteran who traveled the world extensively in the course of his duties. Though English is his native language, he is also fluent in Spanish and is acquainted with many other cultures and histories. Over the course of twenty years, he worked with nutritional and medical diagnostic laboratories in a variety of roles. Jared has spent the last eighteen years designing and delivering education in traditional face to face and online formats, including designing blended courses for science and a host of other disciplines. He has completed master’s level programs in educational psychology, instructional design, and Latin American culture. He is currently employed in a variety of roles with Franklin Virtual Schools, including science and Spanish teaching, curriculum designer, and accreditation specialist.
Kevin Miller is an experienced leader and marketer, currently serving as the Director of Marketing for FLC. He has been marketing for over ten years with multiple industries, including automotive manufacturing and international NGOs. Kevin champions customer service-driven marketing and putting the needs of the client first. When not in the office, he can often be found teaching military history to high schoolers, spending time with his wife and 4 kids, or computer gaming.
Brian Elmer was immersed in customer service at an early age, growing up in a family restaurant business exceeding 34 stores. In the 90’s, Brian opened a one-hour photo lab. This business expanded quickly, allowing the addition of a second and third location. Brian predicted impending technology changes as a result of the Internet, and sold these businesses to begin working with Mr. Hooser on a variety of Internet-based business endeavors. He has been an integral part of Franklin since the company’s inception and launch. Brian continues to serve as Director of Student Services, and also plays an integral role in supporting the challenges of Franklin’s growing global operations.
